Centre for Capacity Building (CECAB) has organized a Sharing and Discussions Meeting of Professionals on Current Issues on 21 February 2015 at Hotel Pacific, Kathmandu. The purpose of that high level meeting was to update knowledge and information for individual and collective benefits; and to develop social and professional networking for positive change and development.
The participants in the meeting were senior executives, national planners, high level subject experts and professionals, senior consultants and trainers from government, semi-government and non-government institutions. They were former Chief Election Commissioner, Ex- Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission, Ex-Chief Secretary of the Government, Ex-AIG of Nepal Police, Senior Archeologist of Nepal, Ex-Zonal Commissioner, Professor of Institute of Engineering, Former Senior Director of Nepal Administrative Staff College, Professor of Culture (Tribhuvan University), Chairman of Electricity Tariff Fixations Commission and Centre Chief of CECAB.
The discussions meeting was begun welcoming to all the distinguished participants by Dr. Shankar Prasad Rajbhandari, Centre Chief of the Centre of Capacity Building. In the welcome remarks, Dr. Rajbhandari highlighted the purpose and importance of the sharing meeting. Dr. Rajbhandari also mentioned that although the meeting was the first one organized by CECAB of that type, has to be continued to serve intended purposes.
In the sharing program Prof. Jagan Nath Shrestha (Ph.D.) has made a PowerPoint presentation on alternative energy particularly focusing on solar energy. That was followed by another spiritual presentation delivered by Sri Kiran Shankar Yogacharya on Yog and purification.
The former presentation was intended to share technological knowledge and tips to survive with solar energy for household usage in the present energy crisis in Nepal whereas the second presentation was delivered to help balancing body and mind by means of purification process Yog. This process is essential even for the planners and administrators for making a right decisions and maintaining good governance. On request, CECAB will provide the details of both the aforesaid presentations.
The sharing meeting was carried out with many questions and live discussions to clarify confusions and quarries among the participants from different angles of discussions subject matters.
At the end of the sharing discussions, Dr. Rabindra K. Shakya, Former Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission briefly highlighted the current scenario of energy problems in the country. The meeting was closed with the closing remarks of Mr. Keshab Raj Rajbhandari, Ex Chief Secretary of Nepal Government. In his wrap up remarks, Mr. Rajbhandari opined that the meeting was highly fruitful to update knowledge and exposure in the subject issues discussed which were contextual and highly relevant in the present situations. On behalf of the all participants, Mr. Rajbhandari expressed his thanks to CECAB for organizing sharing meeting on current topical issues and he also emphasized that such type of meeting of high level professionals should have continued in the days to come. The fruitful discussions, enthusiasm of the participants, one-to-one connectivity among the dignified professionals, and commitments for future meetings to share information and develop the meeting group as a non-political think-tank for social change and development were considered as the prime achievements of the event.
