Centre for Capacity Building (CECAB) has organized the Training-cum-Workshop on Managing Stress and Time at Hotel Pacific Pvt. Ltd., Kantipath, Kathmandu on 21 March 2015.

The main purposes of the training workshop were:

  1. to develop conceptual understandings about stress and time management;
  2. to enable the participants in identifying and figure out the individual weaknesses and missing of stress and time management from being failure in future career;
  3. to enable the participants using techniques and approaches to manage stress and time efficiently and effectively. and
  4. to prepare strategic steps for managing stress and time for the future.

The Training-cum-Workshop was organized exclusively for the faculty members of the College of Biomedical Engineering and Applied Sciences. Twenty faculty staff had participated in the program which was a one full day event started from 10.00 am in the morning to 5.30 pm in the evening.

The program mainly covered the following topics:

  1. Stress Management: Concepts, Issues and Approach;
  2. Techniques and Process of Time Management; and
  3. Managing Stress for Mental Balance and Creativity.

The program was begun with the welcome remarks of Dr. Shankar Prasad Rajbhandari, Program Director and Centre Chief of the Centre for Capacity Building. The program was then proceeded by mapping the learning expectations of the participants. The main expectations of the participants were found to learn the practical tips and techniques of stress and time management in the context of work-life balance.

The sessions on Stress Management: Concepts, Issues and Approach; and Techniques and Process of Time Management were conducted by Dr. Shankar P. Rajbhandari whereas the session on Managing Stress for Mental Balance and Creativity was undertaken by Kiran Shankar Yogacharya, Senior Yog Guru.

The training workshop was successfully accomplished with full participations and interactions of the participants with interactive experiential sharing, case discussions and analysis. Some individual status of stress and their managing strategies were discussed in stress management during the second session so as four quadrants of  time management based on importance and urgency of activities were practiced in the third session. During the yoga session, some light exercises and practices were also made as a part of tips and techniques controlling the stress and mental balance.

The program was entirely focused on making it more demand-driven in terms of having benefits of the participants. To this end, quarries and individual questions from each and every participants were thoroughly discussed and analyzed during the sessions.

At the end of the program, Dr. Vishwa Prakash Shrivastava, Principal of the College of Biomedical Engineering and Applied Sciences expressed that although the duration of the program was too short on such a crucial topical subject matters, participants got better opportunities to learn many new knowledge and skills in stress and time management in the congenial learning environment. On behalf of the participants, Mr. Saurav Sharma opined that the program was found interesting and useful for their practical life.

At the end of the program, certificates of participation were also awarded to the participants. Eventually, Dr. Rajbhandari extended thanks to all participants and resource persons of the program for their active participation and also to the Principal, Vice-Principal and other staff of the college for their kind support to make the program a success.
